Wall of Shelves

The room you see above is from a Northern California home designed by Elena Calabrese Design. This sitting area with a large wall of shelves faces an open living room with a large 24-foot wall.

With a modern rocking chair, a hanging chair and an Arco Style Lamp, you can’t miss the wall of built-in bookshelves that are finished in a glossy white lacquer. The bookshelves are made of equally sized rectangles that cover a 12-foot wall and are adorned with various accessories, like books, frames and other knick-knacks.

It seems that opinions of bookshelves run across the board. Some love built-in bookshelves because they add dimension to a room and enable a plethora of opportunities for styling a room, while others find them antiquated and boring. Then you have those that can take ’em or leave ’em depending on the room.

What do you think about an entire wall of bookshelves? Stylish or outdated?
