Bring Greenery Inside for a Clean, Cozy Space

Greenery in the home is important. It not only cleanses the air (some species), it also adds another dimension to any room to make it feel more cozy. Large potted plants can really make a statement in any living space when methodically placed. Placed next to a large sofa, as shown above, it can drastically change the feel of the space. If you’d like to try something a bit more subtle, try introducing a couple of smaller plants to your living room or bedroom. You don’t necessarily have to go big to make a statement. Either way, it’s spring – get your green on and brighten up that home!

Happy #EarthDay!

It’s all about our Earth today! For those of you who may not know, #EarthDay is primarily about educating all of those around the world about keeping the Earth a beautiful and clean place for all of us to live, breathe and enjoy. For many of us, we were taught all throughout school about keeping our environment clean and safe. Now we celebrate #EarthDay by spending time in nature and taking in all of the Earth’s beauty. If you have any time to spare today, take a walk outside, go for a hike, ride your bike through the woods or a beautiful park. It’s a gorgeous day, take advantage of it and celebrate this fantastic Earth that we call home.

Oh, and if you’ve been looking for some Eco-friendly furniture options, look no further – we’ve got you covered!

Ice & Snow Furniture

With all of this snow lately, I’m beginning to feel like this is what we’ll be offering next here at Inmod – furniture made from ice and snow.

I’m totally kidding, but aren’t these icy furniture pieces the most unique and creative thing you’ve ever seen? Designer and sculptor, Hongtao Zhou, hand-crafted these chairs and table out of the snow that fell on Lake Mendota in Wisconsin. His beautiful sculptures were built to connect people and nature and draw attention to the environment. Eventually, the ice and snow that was used to create these amazing pieces of furniture had to return to the large body of water and therefore conclude a clearly green life cycle.

Monkeying Around, Inmod Style!

The other day I was browsing our site and I stopped to admire our Siella Micos Chair Collection. These chairs are so fun, I can’t stop thinking about them! In addition to radiating coolness, these chairs are also eco-friendly and handmade. You can have just one as a living room side chair (although I don’t know how you could pick just one) or purchase a set and use them in your dining room or kitchen. I love the picture above sent in from one of our customers with a sense of humor! These “See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil” themed chairs got my co-workers and me talking. As it was a Friday afternoon and the week was coming to an end, Jourdan (aka Web Content Janitor), thought we should do our own version of these chairs, so we pulled out some lollipop stools and the monkeying around began.

And now may I introduce…Ralph! This picture of Ralph pretty much summarizes how he spends most of his days at the office. However, he sometimes does put on his working cap, and when he does he can pretty much do anything. Ralph is officially Inmod’s Web Content Wizard and is responsible for getting all of the new lines up on the site, helping maintain existing products and managing the web team’s music rotation (much to my dismay).

Doesn’t it look like Inmod is a super fun office? What do you think about the Siella Micos Chairs? Doesn’t Ralph make those Lollipop Stools look fabulous?

Now I’ve seen everything

When you can’t find the exact outdoor chair you’re looking for, you can always build your own! Or, in this case, grow your own. While it may not be the fastest solution to your seating needs, it certainly is one of the most creative! And I found the perfect pillow to pair it with! Click here for a link to the artists’ website and other examples of their amazing work.

Caveat: Despite its hippie roots, the Tree Hugger pillow really prefers to remain indoors except, perhaps, for brief sojourns into the backyard. Think indoor cat on a leash and you get the idea.

Mixing Modern with DIY

There is such thing as mixing both modern and DIY furniture and home decor to create a beautiful space in your home – HERE’S PROOF!

This gorgeous, modern loft features a tall, red brick wall that joins an incredibly high ceiling and adds the perfect contrast to the other crisp white walls surrounding this space. Inside, your eyes are immediately drawn to a large, comfortable, do-it-yourself pallet sectional that is complemented by modern living furniture and lighting accents. The grand white ceiling lamp hanging in the middle of the room adds elegance and style to this comfy living room, while the funky red occasional chair creates a warm, inviting nature.

So if you’ve ever dreamed about creating a unique and modern DIY space, you can… and you know it can look good!

Green with Envy

Eco-friendly products are here to stay (thank god)! If you are like me, concerned about the environment, but not quite sure how to navigate the jargon of “sustainable” goods, check out the Transglass collection designed by Tord Boontjeand Emma Woffenden for Artecnica’s Design with Conscious project. Your friends will be “green” with envy when you show them your amazing “one of a kind” Transglass Set of 4 Tumblers.

Made from recycled wine and beer bottles and Handcrafted in Guatemala by independent artisans, this eco-friendly collection is the epitome of up-cycling. So have a few friends over, “drink up” and add to your collection.

What piece from the Transglass collection Transglass collection is your favorite? How do you feel about making something new and reusable from something originally meant to be disposable and for a single use?
