5 Feng Shui Bedroom Tips Everyone Should Know

The art of Feng Shui dates back over 3,000 years and originates in China. This art form focuses on crafting a room that helps promote good energy, called ‘Chi,’ and focuses on improving your life based on how you interact with your environment. Here are five Feng Shui bedroom tips everyone should know to help you achieve greater comfort and a balanced style.

The Bed Is Your Center

Your bed is the centerpiece of your bedroom, which is no surprise, considering the room gets its name from said primary piece of furniture. According to the art of Feng Shui, your bed should be at least a queen size, allowing for ample space. Smaller beds, like a twin, can feel especially restrictive, which is not conducive to your comfort or energy balance. Furthermore, if you get a headboard for your bed, consider getting a wooden one for a touch of naturalism that will feel more inviting.

Remove Clutter

One of the more common Feng Shui concepts is the removal of clutter to balance the room and prevent feelings of claustrophobia. Modern furniture shines here because it takes inspiration from minimalism and can help you eliminate designs that may clutter the room with visual noise. Removing electronics like TVs or computers is also a good idea, as these temptations can disturb your rest.

Light and Airflow

Natural lighting and proper ventilation are essential Feng Shui bedroom tips everyone should know. Natural light is pleasing to our minds and helps make a room feel bigger by flooding every corner with light. Meanwhile, airflow will keep the room from feeling stagnant and stuffy—increasing the energy in the room.

Colors and Designs

The color of your room should reflect how you feel. If you’re someone who is low energy and prefers calm tranquility, cooler colors like blue or green are ideal. If you’re more energetic, colors like peach or pink may be preferable. It’s important, however, that you avoid warm colors like red or orange, as these colors will make it harder to feel calm and get to sleep.

Decor and Decoration

Lastly, consider decorations that will create a positive and balanced environment. For example, plants are always a positive and pleasing addition to any room. You can also use curtains or blinds to help control the light within your room to add a soft ambiance and further appeal to your senses.
