A Tuft Act to Follow: Tastefully Tufted Headboards

Leather Tufted Headboards: The Loft Bed and The Ludlow Bed

We’re loving the look of tufted upholstery over here at Inmod. The versatility of fabrics that can be tufted is incredible, as each creates an individually dramatic effect. The six tufted headboards seen here are covered in a variety of leather, velvet and fabric upholstery.

Velvet Tufted Headboards: The Empire Bed and The Palisades Bed

Tufted upholstery is a style that dates way back. Initially, the tufting technique was implemented in upholstered furniture to secure fabric to the frame of the furniture. Now, tufting is used for the visual effect as it creates shadows within the cushion and enhances the look of the fabric, whether its leather, velvet or cloth being used.

Fabric Tufted Headboards: The Soho Bed and The Majorca Bed

The tufted look is achieved by pulling thread through fabric and cushion in a pattern to create individual sections, or tufts. The thread is then secured with a button, knot or piping to enhance decorative appeal. Tufted styles are popping up everywhere, from chairs to sofas to ottomans to headboards.
