Decorating with Neutrals

decorating-with-neutrals

For many people, decorating with a neutral palette sounds blah and boring.  Which it could be, if the entire room was decorated in the same color. However, decorating with neutrals creates the perfect base for adding color and contrast in textures and wood finishes.

For example, the Lucas Sofa & Coffee Table shown above has a neutral sofa that is perfectly complemented by the dark contrasting coffee table. Pops of color could be introduced by swapping out a few of the neutral accent pillows for some brightly colored and patterned ones.

When it comes to the modern dining room or kitchen, a neutral table such as the Calligaris R Modern Extendable Dining Table can be spiced up with bold dining chairs, just as the Muros Accent Chair can be used as a dining chair to a funkier table. Or they can both be used together and complemented by a shag or patterned rug.

For the bedroom, a neutral bed such as the Tribeca Upholstered Bed allows you to be creative with bedding, while the neutral Shimmer Duvet Set works with dark and textured headboards.

While these are just some of our ideas for decorating with a neutral palette, it all boils down to personal preference. Some people prefer a completely neutral decor, with taupes, beiges, blacks and whites. Then you have those who like a neutral base with pops of colors throughout.
