Modern Chandeliers

The use of chandeliers dates back to medieval times.  At that time, they were actually constructed to accommodate a multitude of candles, which provided the source of light.  While chandeliers today are wired for electricity and take on many non-traditional forms, they remain a popular style of lighting.

While the word chandelier remains the same and the light itself offers many of the same qualities, today’s assortment is vast and varied.  This is likely due to the fact that since chandeliers no longer need to hold candles, they can now take on more creative forms.
