The Smashed Guitar: the Incomparable Style of Frank O. Gehry

While in Seattle last December, I visited the EMP Museum, designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. Few architects working today possess such an instantly recognizable style. While Gehry’s works are easily identifiable, they are in no way cookie cutter replicas of each other. Each one is distinctive and a masterpiece of modern design. The EMP Museum design represents the fluidity of music; from above (the top of the Space Needle!) it resembles a smashed guitar. Inside, I worshipped the guitars and other memorabilia of Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana. Follow these links to read more about the EMP Museum, and Frank Gehry himself (this article contains links to his other famous buildings).

Happily, you can own your own little piece of Frank Gehry’s fantastic imagination, because, like many famous architects before him, he also designs furniture! We at Inmod are pleased to offer his designs here. My personal favorites are the brightly colored twist cubes. What do you think of Gehry’s singular vision?
